Glamsquad
On-Demand Personalized Beauty.
The epitome of a trusting relationship between a consumer and a company is between a woman and her hairstylist. Finding the right salon, getting to know your hair dresser, and assessing how well you look following the appointment can be stressful and extremely time consuming. For some women, it can be just as stressful even if only wanting a blow out to look great for a work event or dinner party. Glamsquad is the solution to your worries.
When I attended the NRF Shop.Org Summit in Fall 2014, I had the privilege of meeting Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, co-founder and CEO of Glamsquad. Glamsquad is an on-demand beauty business that brings professional hair stylists and makeup artists to wherever the customer is – at home, at work, at your hotel, or elsewhere. Hair and makeup at the touch of a button could easily be considered every woman’s dream.

Upon downloading the Glamsquad app, a client registers their account and then scrolls through images of the hair and makeup styles they offer. The services are only offered in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami currently, but will soon be available in Dallas, Washington, D.C. and Chicago (Brooke).
Especially for some women who may not be the most savvy with a hair dryer and a flat brush, these services are establishing new grounds for customization within retail services. One can just schedule what service they want and within 30 seconds, an appointment is scheduled or if available, a Glamsquad professional-quality team could be on their way to beautify a client.

I think the potential impact Glamsquad has on the beauty industry is incredible. Alexandra Wilkis Wilson announced e-commerce and development of a Glamsquad beauty line are plans she has for the future.Keeping in line with the company’s mission of serving a “time-starved woman,” she envisions product and tools that can serve as shortcuts or extend the life of services (Strugatz).
